Aspen Music Festival

Jul 2 2025 - 3:15pm to Aug 24 2025 - 3:15pm

The Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) stands as one of the premier classical music institutions in the United States, renowned for both its exceptional concert programming and its dedication to nurturing young musicians. Each summer, over 650 students from around the globe converge in Aspen for an immersive eight-week program that offers more than 400 events, including orchestral concerts, chamber music, opera, recitals, and lectures. Students benefit from intensive one-on-one instruction and the unique opportunity to perform alongside esteemed artist-faculty and guest musicians from leading orchestras and conservatories worldwide .

The 2025 season, running from July 2 to August 24, embraces the theme “Concerning the Spiritual in Art,” inspired by Wassily Kandinsky’s exploration of the spiritual in creative expression. A highlight of the season is the world premiere of Siddhartha, She, a ritual music drama by composer-in-residence Christopher Theofanidis and librettist Melissa Studdard, offering a contemporary reflection on Hermann Hesse's classic novel .

AMFS performances take place in iconic venues such as the open-air Michael Klein Music Tent, the intimate Joan and Irving Harris Concert Hall, and the historic Wheeler Opera House. Audiences can enjoy concerts in these settings, with options ranging from reserved seating to free lawn access, making classical music accessible to all .

Beyond performances, the AMFS is committed to community engagement and education, offering programs for local youth and families, including free and low-cost events designed to inspire the next generation of music lovers
