Reducing Waste Through Smart Recycling and Reuse

Our approach to waste reduction starts with creative reuse and responsible recycling. When items can no longer serve their original purpose in our vacation rentals, we don't simply throw them away. Instead, we've built partnerships with local organizations to give these items a second life. Furniture, décor, and household items find new homes through donations to local thrift stores, our dedicated staff members, Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork, and the Pitkin County Landfill Mercantile.

Even items that might seem beyond repair get special attention. We participate in Pitkin County's e-waste day to ensure electronics are properly recycled, and we've established systems for recycling everything from light bulbs and batteries to paper, glass, cardboard, and plastic. When our linens and towels reach the end of their useful life, we don't waste them—unusable towels are donated to the Aspen Animal Shelter where they provide comfort to animals in need, while worn linens are recycled at the Rio Grande Recycling Center.

Embracing Sustainable Products and Practices

Inside our vacation rentals, guests will find thoughtfully chosen amenities that reflect our environmental values. We've replaced single-use toiletries with refillable bottles for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion, significantly reducing plastic waste. All our personal care products are paraben and phthalate-free, ensuring they're better for both our guests and the environment.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to the smallest details. We've upgraded to LED bulbs throughout our properties, purchase compostable K-cups for our Keurig machines, and provide recycling bins in every unit to make it easy for guests to participate in our environmental efforts. We treat linens for stains before considering disposal, extending their useful life and reducing waste.

Energy Conservation and Efficiency

Energy conservation is a cornerstone of our sustainability program. Our  team diligently adjusts thermostats and closes curtains in unoccupied units to minimize energy consumption. We turn off all lights, electronics, and air conditioners when properties aren't in use, and we're continuously upgrading to energy-efficient appliances as older models need replacement.

When appliances break down, our first instinct isn't to replace them—we repair them whenever possible, reducing waste and extending the life of our equipment. This approach not only benefits the environment but also ensures our properties are equipped with well-maintained, reliable amenities.

We also encourage our guests to explore sustainable transportation options by advertising the public transportation system in our units and providing a virtual guidebook instead of paper copies, reducing both waste and the need for constant reprinting.

We actively participate in Snowmass Villag and Aspen cleanup days, contributing to the preservation of our beautiful mountain environment. Our lost and found policy reflects our values too—unclaimed items are donated to local thrift stores rather than being discarded.
